A few days back,
Nidhi : Amma, what does deer eat?
Amma : Deer eats grass.
Nidhi : Deer has teeth?
Amma : Yes.
Nidhi thinks for a minute.
Nidhi : No, mamma. Deer eats only milk. (realising she is wrong)....Deer drinks milk. only milk it likes.
Amma : Who told u?
Nidhi : In Chota Bheem, Chutki is giving milk to deer.
Thankfully i had watched this episode of Chota Bheem and i explained to Nidhi that it was a baby-deer and so it was drinking milk...
Nidhi and her friend, Vishal, are drawing and coloring. Vishal is elder to Nidhi by 2 years. Even otherwise, he is good at painting and soon he makes a very nice painting and shows it to me. Meanwhile Nidhi makes a red mess sprinkled with some green and blue. i have warned her not to paint monsters or ghosts, as the easiest thing she finds to draw is a mess and call it a ghost. So, now, i ask her, what is this you have drawn. "This...", she replies,"this is tomato-onion fry!" (Tomato-onion fry is her fav dish and it is just what it's called - onion and tomato fried together).
All this discussion of travel and vacation at home led to Nidhi and me contemplating the food on the aeroplane. Nidhi looks forward to the meal, although it's the most tasteless thing on earth. i think it's more the joy and excitement at opening the cover and peering at what food's been packed inside. Nidhi ends up drinking more than what she eats. anyway, talking of the airlines food made Nidhi pause a minute and come up with this doubt - "The air-hostess is a chef also?" :-))
Although she doesn't realise it(and acts non-chalant when i explain to her), her expression when she thinks over something and comes up with a question is priceless. i try to record everything in my brain(and this blog) so that even after many many years i will still be able to recollect the look on her slightly frowned face when she asks me a question...
Enjoying a particularly excellent samosa-chole at a restaurant,
Amma (tells Appa, pointing to the food) : Mmmmmmmmmmm, i love this...
Nidhi (aghast) : WHAT? u Love THIS? (indignantly)I love my family and friends!!!
:-)) wow, someone seems to have gotten her priorites rite after all...
